Warning: Know before you go to Greenleaf!

Like the City of Brownwood and their City Parks, the Greenleaf Cemetery Association finds itself challenged with numerous large dead trees (15) that require removal asap by a City contracted professional tree service. If you are visiting the cemetery, please avoid standing under or nearby these obviously dead and dangerous trees! We have requested temporary Street Barricades from the City. For your safety, please do not enter past or around the barriers!

Due to the nature of this potentially dangerous situation, we are working with the City of Brownwood to remedy this situation in an expedited manner! We especially want to thank newly elected Council-member Miller for his involvement, guidance and leadership!

We appreciate your considerations, understanding and patience as we progress!

Greenleaf’s Father’s Day NEW Mower Fundraiser now underway!

The Greenleaf Cemetery Association of Brownwood, a 501C13 non-profit organization, is charged with the operation and upkeep of the City of Brownwood owned cemetery. On occasion, we proactively reach out to the community for help with equipment purchases and improvement project funding. We would appreciate your considerations and donations as we continue to move Brownwood’s Historic Greenleaf Cemetery forward!

HPU, The Harrison House, Brownwood History & A Better Greenleaf Cemetery!

Well folks, after hearing yesterdays interview https://www.facebook.com/100027190527277/posts/pfbid02AJzJw9ctG9UdxiR4xMAYt6V3ZAsonmDt5ofbznhYbV3ZZ9LTzjoKckoFUwXZgVyUl/?mibextid=cr9u03 with HPU’s President by Celinda Hawkins KXYL Newstalk (aka Brownwood Talk Radio), it appears the sale and removal of the historically significant Harrison House is “What’s best for HPU”!

Since that is the plan, I’ve asked HPU to donate the house to the nearby historic Greenleaf Cemetery. I’ve also requested they donate the funds for the relocation and set up!

Q: Why would I do this you ask?

A: I’ve been the President of the Greenleaf Cemetery Association since 2017. My job as President, a volunteer position, calls for me to be a continuous advocate for Brownwood’s historic cemetery and the 18,000 + laid to rest there.
Years ago, HPU relocated (disinterred) their founder from the HPU grounds and reinterred him at Greenleaf. The Harrison’s are also laid to rest at Greenleaf. With this history in mind, and their plan in motion, I advocate for Greenleaf by requesting HPU relocate their Harrison House from 803 Center Street (Downtown) to 2308 Center Street (Greenleaf). My request may appear as bold as selling and relocating a historic home! They are both bold! If the sale and relocation must take place, I believe Greenleaf should directly benefit as well! A “What’s best for HPU” could also become a “What’s best for Greenleaf and Brownwood” as well!
